Julia — known to almost everyone as Jewels — has been a licensed cosmetologist since 2007. But her education started long before beauty school.
“I have been very blessed in my career. Before beauty school and years after, I got to apprentice under some of the top hair artists in the industry. They opened up doors to a whole new world in the beauty industry beyond the cuts and color. I was doing hair for New York Fashion Week and hair and makeup for editorial work that always required ‘a look that no one has ever seen’ or ‘give them wow.’ That wow was adding more hair!”
Extensions became her obsession, from the runway to everyday looks. It wasn’t just the transformations — though watching a client turn around in the chair and squeal with delight, or be shocked (sometimes with a few happy profanities), is still her favorite part of the job. It was the craft. The color-matching. The placement strategy. The way a seamless install could change how someone carries themselves walking out the door.
So she went deep. She pursued certification after certification — amassing 11 certifications and two patents — mastering K-Tip keratin bond, hand-tied weft, IBE, and beaded weft methods. Today, extensions are the only thing she does. That focus makes the difference.
